A biography of our Chairman H.E. Mr. Omer Abdelati
1963 > L.L.B Khartoum University.
1963 > Appointed to the judiciary as Magistrate of the Khartoum North Criminal Court.
1964 > Appointed District Judge of Khartoum.
1964 > By the end of 1964; chosen to oversee the centralization of all labour cases in Khartoum.1965
–Resigned from the judiciary to head up Former Prime Minister Mohamed Ahmed Mahgoub’s Chambers.
1966 > Established the Omer Abdelati Law Firm which handled a complex portfolio of cases -- Criminal, Civil
Partnership and Company Law, Non-Muslim and Muslim Personal Law Cases. The firm also handled
cases outside Sudan including in Egypt, Yemen, Uganda and Lebanon.
1984 > Mr. Abdelati was made an honorary citizen of Louisiana State, USA in recognition of his contribution to
facilitate the entry of U.S. crops to aid the famine-struck Darfur region.
1984 > Elected Vice President of the Bar Association.
1985 > Appointed the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Sudan.
As Minister of Justice during Sudan’s transitional government, he drafted and amended all business
and commercial Laws.
1986 > Returned to his work at the Omer Abdelati Law Firm.
